Brands I service

Sixty-plus brands have come through the shop since 2022. These four make up most of the work, which means I know their failure patterns, their part numbers and which model years to avoid.

The four I see most

Apollo

City · City Pro · Ghost · Phantom

48 repairs completedParts on hand

The most common premium scooter I see in DC, and a genuinely well-built machine. Apollo's own support is decent but slow on parts, so most of my Apollo work is people who don't want to wait three weeks for a warranty ticket.

What I usually find

  • Stem wobble on early City models — shims and a torque spec fix it permanently.
  • Display water ingress after a wet winter; the gasket is the real culprit.
  • Rear hydraulic brake needing a proper bleed rather than a pad swap.

Gotrax

GXL V2 · G4 · Apex · G6

61 repairs completedBudget-friendly parts

The volume brand — cheap enough that shops tell people to just buy a new one. Often they're wrong: a $70 repair on a $300 scooter is still the right call, and I'll be straight with you when it isn't.

What I usually find

  • Throttle assemblies failing at the connector, not the sensor. Cheap fix.
  • GXL V2 folding latches worn loose — a safety issue, not a nuisance.
  • Charge ports pushed in and torn off the board; usually repairable.

KingSong

16X · S18 · S22 · S20

19 repairs completedEUC specialist

Electric unicycles are their own world, and almost nobody in the DMV will touch them. I will. KingSong builds are solid but the pedal hangers and shell hardware take a beating from real riders.

What I usually find

  • 16X pedal hanger cracks and worn axle bolts after hard riding.
  • S18 suspension air leaks and shock service intervals nobody knew about.
  • Shell hardware, bumpers and pad mounts after a tip-over.

Voromotors

EMOVE Cruiser · Vsett 10+ · Vsett 9+

34 repairs completedLong-range builds

Where the long-range crowd ends up. Heavy, fast, and genuinely serviceable — Voromotors documents their machines better than most, which makes them a pleasure to work on.

What I usually find

  • Vsett 10+ controller failures on one motor under sustained load.
  • EMOVE Cruiser tubeless tires losing seal — a solid-tire conversion candidate.
  • Hydraulic brakes arriving under-bled from the factory.
And the rest
