Electric unicycles are their own world, and almost nobody in the DMV will touch them. I will. KingSong builds are solid but the pedal hangers and shell hardware take a beating from real riders.
If you have already been told "we don't work on those" by two shops, this is the page you were looking for.
What I usually find
- 16X pedal hanger cracks and worn axle bolts. Hard riding finds this eventually. Caught early it is hardware; caught late it is a hanger.
- S18 suspension air leaks. The shock has a service interval that almost nobody was told about. Most of the "my S18 feels dead" messages I get are a shock that needs servicing, not a suspension redesign.
- Shell hardware, bumpers and pad mounts after a tip-over. Cosmetic until it isn't — a loose pad mount changes how the wheel reads your input.
- Charge port and control-board connectors after a wet ride. EUCs sit low and collect road spray. Cleaning and dielectric grease go a long way here.
What I won't do
Cell-level battery pack rebuilds. A KingSong pack is a serious amount of stored energy in a sealed shell, and rebuilding one properly needs equipment I don't have. I will diagnose a pack, tell you honestly what it is doing, and point you at someone who does that work.
What it costs
EUC work prices off the same published sheet as scooter work, with one caveat: shell teardown on an S-series takes longer than a scooter of the same value, so labor lands at the upper end of the ranges more often. That is in your quote before you commit.
Bringing one in
Model, firmware version if you know it, and what it is doing — send a request. If it has been down hard, tell me that too; it changes what I look at first.
KingSong acting up? Let's have a look.
Model, symptom, a couple of photos. I'll text you back the same day, usually with the likely cause before you drop it off.
